Why pay R5000 for a DJ when you can pay another DJ R1500

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. The old cliché of “If the music and food suck” the evening will be a disaster is so true, but your DJ can still salvage the evening by helping your guests have the time of their lives on the dance floor.

The two things that people will always talk about long after the event are the food and the music.  Your venue can be 5-star, the bride can look breathtakingly beautiful, and the list can go on.  But if the food and music are not on par then that will be what people remember, and would be the reason the event that you spent so much on would end sooner rather than later!

Someone once said:

“The music at ANY event WILL make or break the mood and be the reason for success or disaster of the overall event.  Choose it carefully!  An individual with a Laptop and 100,000 songs is NOT a DJ!  A person who can read his crowd and keep his dancefloor buzzing, and give every age group and every cultural group a chance on the floor and continuously do so using a smooth transition, now THAT is a DJ.”

People make the mistake of thinking they are paying for the equipment the DJ uses. Although this is a valid point, it’s not entirely true. You pay for your DJs experience.  For those “we don’t want to pay an arm and a leg” customers, we do understand that budgets are tight, but take the following scenario into account:

A customer asked me how much a wedding DJ package is.  Here’s how the conversation went.
𝗠𝗲: R 5000 and upwards
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Why is it so expensive? All I need is music on the occasion!
𝗠𝗲: How much do you think it would cost you?
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: R1500 maximum.  It’s just easy, right?! All you have to do is play some music.
𝗠𝗲: Hmm okay, maybe you can do it yourself if some music is all you need.
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: But I don’t know how!
𝗠𝗲: For R1500 I will teach you, that way you can save R5000 and gain the knowledge that you will need.
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Okay, I’m fine with that, thank you!
𝗠𝗲: Great!  Before we can start your training, you will need the following DJ Equipment:
  • Professional 2×CDJ”s or DJ Controller(R50 000+)
  • Mixer (R20 000)
  • Powered Amplifier (R8000+)
  • Speakers (R20000+)
  • Light setup ( R8000+)
  • Headphones ( R3000+)
  • Cordless Mics (R4500+)
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Oh my! But I don’t have all this DJ equipment.  Do I need to buy all of that?  Can I hire it and how much will it cost?

You see, professional DJ equipment comes at a price to buy and maintain.  Hiring this type of equipment will probably cost you more than R5 000, which still does not guarantee a successful event, as you will still need someone that has the experience and knowledge of using it and reading your crowd.

Why hiring a professional DJ for your event is important

When you hire a professional DJ you get:

  • Experience: Professional DJs have the experience and expertise to handle a wide range of events and know how to keep the party going. They have the necessary equipment and know-how to handle any technical issues that may arise.

  • Music selection: Professional DJs have a wide range of music at their disposal and can help to create a playlist that fits the theme and atmosphere of your event. They can also take requests from guests to keep the party going.

  • Professionalism: A professional DJ brings a level of professionalism and reliability to your event. They will arrive on time and be prepared to provide top-quality entertainment.

  • Versatility: Professional DJs can adapt to a wide range of events and audiences, ensuring that everyone has a great time. They can also serve as an MC, making announcements and keeping the event on track.

  • Convenience: Hiring a professional DJ takes the burden of music selection and setup off of the host, allowing them to focus on other aspects of the event. This can be especially useful for events with a large guest list or for those who are not familiar with DJ equipment.

Overall, hiring a professional DJ can help to create a fun and memorable experience for your guests and ensure that your event runs smoothly.
