Our Founder

DJ Big Boy

Big Boy Events was established over two decades ago by Jan Hendrik Jakobus Wagenaar, better known by his stage name, DJ Big Boy. Inspired by a family legacy steeped in music, DJ Big Boy followed his passion into the world of DJing, starting from humble beginnings with a gifted rig to spinning tracks at major corporate events and intimate gatherings alike.

Our Journey

Starting as a hobby alongside a banking career, DJ Big Boy’s passion for music and entertainment soon turned into a full-time calling. He refined his skills and built lasting friendships within the industry, leading to the establishment of Big Boy Events, a name that clients now associate with exceptional musical experiences across South Africa.

1998: Starting Point

The beginning of my DJ career, marking the launch of a lifelong passion for music and entertainment.

2009: Brian Habana's Wedding

A standout event DJing for rugby celebrity Brian Habana, surrounded by famous figures from the rugby world—a phenomenal experience.

2012: Sun City Super Bowl Event

My debut at a prime venue during the ABI (Coca-Cola Brand) year-end function, featuring major sound setups and a crowd of 650 guests.

2016-Present: Deloitte Year-End Functions

Since 2016, I’ve been the preferred DJ for Deloitte’s lively year-end functions, entertaining a dancing crowd of 700 guests annually.
