Frequently asked

What happens if we reach our time limit on our chosen package?

You are more than welcome to discuss overtime with your DJ on the day of the event. Please note this depends on your venue as well.

How long in advance do we need to book?

As soon as you can. We work on a first come first serve basis.

What is discussed at the pre-function meeting?

Song selections for all the special moments will be discussed. Your DJ will also ask for a small list of your favorite songs/artists. This is just a guideline to give the DJ an idea of your music tastes. Your DJ will do his best to incorporate these songs/artists during your event.

Can we give the DJ a playlist?

You are more than welcome to. Please bear in mind that if DJ is instructed to stick to the supplied playlist, you are effectively turning your DJ into a Jukebox. We can however not take the blame for how the evening turns out with regards to music selections.

What is the procedure after the booking is confirmed?

Once your booking is finalized with us we will arrange a meeting about 2 or 3 weeks before your big day. This meeting can be in person or with this day and age we can arrange a zoom or teams meeting as well.

How long has Big Boy Events been around?

Although Big Boy Events is a relatively new company, we have been in the industry since 1998.

What type of equipment do you use?

We use top brands like Pioneer, JBL, Chauvet DJ.

When it comes to sound, does it matter how many guests we have?

The standard equipment included is adequate for up to 120 guests. More guests mean a bigger hall. Extra equipment is needed for larger crowds. Take note that sound travels and if your function is outdoors this will have an impact and should be discussed before the function.

Does the DJ accept song requests?

Our DJs are open for requests. Giving your DJ a song request does not necessarily mean that your song will be played next. Your DJ will play it at a time when he deems it to fit into what he is playing at any given moment. The DJ will shy away from inappropriate songs.

On the day of the event, how many people will be representing your company?

It will be the DJ with an assistant. With regards to meals, ask your venue if there is a cheaper option available for the DJ and assistant.

How does the setup work on the day of the event?

Your DJ and his assistant will be there at least 2 hours before your event starts. Sound checks need to be done before any of your guests arrive.

Do you offer any other services?

We do offer Optional extras including but not limited to Uplights (Mood lights), Dry Ice Fogger (For that dancing on the cloud effect for your first dance), Additional sound, Dancefloors, Photobooths…
You can also book us for AV and staging for your works next conference.

Can you share some tips?

Place your DJ as close to the dancefloor as possible. This will allow your DJ to focus the speakers onto the dance floor and not blast the music directly onto tables where your guests are seated. This also helps in terms of venues with sound restrictions.

What would you need from us?

We need a table and 2 chairs for reception, a small table for chapel service. Tables need to have table cloths.

What is your dress code?

The industry standard is stage black.
